The Nature Conservancy organization received a donation of land from Mr. Pooler in 2016. It includes the land between the golf course and river. There is also an easement that gives the public, including HOA residents, access to parking spaces and the trail behind the restaurant (see attached deed and easement under Deed, Easement, Survey here on the website).
The Nature Conservancy has offered to participate in “volunteer workdays” to maintain the trail. Their plans are to make it part of their larger trail system.
Update on Activity Near the Willet Tract Conservation Area
Residents have noted along the Trail owned by the Nature Conservancy, tree‑clearing activity along the western edge of the utility road that borders the Willet Tract Conservation Area and the 14th hole of the Timber Banks golf course. The work appears concentrated near the tee area, where two pieces of clearing equipment were observed.
According to county tax maps, this utility road includes an easement held by the Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA). After being contacted for clarification, OCWA confirmed that the clearing is part of routine maintenance within their designated easement area.
Beyond the OCWA easement, the next parcel of land is owned by Anheuser‑Busch and the County Industrial Development Agency.
This update as of May 2026 is provided to keep the community informed about activity occurring near shared natural and recreational spaces.
